Hi, I'm Murphy and I'm a traveling man (or lady) who somewhere along the line must have gone to charm school because I am JUST TOO CUTE. I am a mini macaw, cousin to the big noisy birds. There's some speculation about my age, but it's somewhere between 5 and 10 years old. I've had three homes already, and I need to settle down. I used to be a biter, big time. My mom in my last home worked with me and taught me about "love". That was our cue word for being gentle and not biting. She would say, "love Murphy" and I'd just melt and lean into the palm of her left hand. Check out the picture here and you'll see what I mean. I also know what "Up" means as well as "inside"(go back in the cage) and "Down". I'm friendly and curious, love to play with toys, ride around on shoulders and be the center of attention. I eat pellets, fruits and veggies, and my last Mom made me some bird bread with veggies in it that I really enjoyed. I'm also pretty chatty and can entertain you, your friends and myself by talking up a storm and laughing at my own jokes. One thing that I think is great, but my humans didn't like at all is throwing things. If it isn't nailed down, I'll throw it--even better if it has something in it when I give it the old heave ho. Makes my day! Talk about traveling - you should have seen me fly! I flew from San Jose to Placerville to get to my new foster home. The secret is because I am a VIB (very important bird) I had my own pilot and private airplane. I could get used to the good life. Want to share it with me? Story posted on: January 18, 2006
