Paris is the white budgie at the far left of the photo. She was the mother of at least 10 budgies. When she arrived at Mickaboo, she weighed twice the normal weight for a budgie. She also had a severely enlarged liver. We hoped that she would have time to return to health, but it was already too late. Fatty liver disease is far too common in budgies fed a seed diet. Notice: Due to the highly social nature of parakeets, unless a household currently includes a parakeet, Mickaboo generally requires that a minimum of two parakeets be adopted. Print this page |
