Hi! My name’s Oscar Wilde, and do I have a story for you! It was a lucky day when I was rescued and taken to a shelter. I had been minding my own business and, out of the blue, was attacked by a hungry hawk. Luckily I managed to get away with my life and wing (limb to humans), just slightly bruised. A passerby stumbled upon me and took me to the animal shelter, where a Mickaboo volunteer promptly picked me up. At the veterinary clinic they gave me a good checkup…. you can imagine the shock I had just had! Because I was a “foundling” and a bit of a rebel, my rescuer named me “Oscar Wilde.” After I had been in observation a while, separate from all the other birds, they finally let me join the rest of the group. These volunteers at Mickaboo are the best! Not only did I get medical care, a warm home, the best healthy food (Nutri-An cakes, seeds, and Harrison’s pellets, carrots, parsley, kale…. and a few tortilla chips! ¡Olé!), they gave me a roommate! Like the rest of my flock, I like to hang out with the rest of the gang…especially Edie…she’s a real looker. I love to fly freely around the room, whistle tunes and learn how to do fun stuff if someone is willing to teach me. It would be great to join a human’s family and find someone who wants to be my best buddy…. I know we would have a fun time together! I’ve been told that my looks are a perfect example of a normal grey cockatiel. Why don’t you come meet me and see for yourself? Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
