It started out that 8 of us zebra finches were living together in a flight cage at a retirement home. Our keepers took good care of us. One day, one of our keepers decided it would be nice to have more of us. So she bought 3 male and 3 female zebra finches. Well, we probably don't need to go into detail, but you know how we zebra finches love big families! In no time at all, there were over 80 of us. The retirement home called Mickaboo to come and help. Our foster mom visited our flight cage and figured out which of us are boys and which are girls. She left about 20 male zebra finches at the home (no females, so we can't keep multiplying), and she took the other 60 or so of us (both boys and girls). She also took all of the babies too, in case one of us turned out to be a girl! So now about 50 of us live together in a big flight cage in partial sun. Our new home has a bathing bowl so we can bathe every day and sit in the sun to dry! If you don't have a huge flight cage for us all, that's ok, we'll be happy if you can take just a few of us home to live as smaller little families. Just don't give us any nests to sleep in... we will multiply again! And everyone knows there are lots of homeless zebra finches out there that you could adopt instead! Print this page |
