Why hello there, my name is Angel. I'm a healthy young lady of 14 years--early adulthood for a cockatoo, as we can live to be 50 years old or more! My family says I'm as sweet and loving as my name suggests, and I must say, my favorite thing in the world is cuddling with my humans. Sadly, they are very busy these days and don't have much time for snuggling, and in the last few months I've begun plucking some of my feathers from boredom and loneliness. My family loves me so much that they want me to be happy, even if it means giving me up. So, they've asked Mickaboo to help me find some kind, loving people who can give me lots of quality cuddle-time. I grew up around children and get along well with them, never biting them. I'm a bit more picky when it comes to other 'toos, though--I lived with another one for a short time, and we didn't get along very well. I think I just fit in better with people! I do have a few fears: brooms, vacuum cleaners, and, for some reason, I have a phobia of the color orange! That's kind of embarrassing, because I know it sounds silly, but I've just been that way ever since I can remember...maybe I had a scary incident with something orange in my early childhood. However, I enjoy hopping around on the floor and chasing feet, and I like it when someone picks me up by letting me hook my beak on their finger and lifting me that way. I'll admit that sometimes I have gotten a little nippy when my sensitive pin-feathers are bumped, or when I'm feeling anxious, but that is rare. I eat lots of veggies and fruit, with a bit of seeds and nuts, and my favorite foods are red grapes and the occasional bit of cheddar cheese! I have a pretty good vocabulary too, including "hi," "hello," "pretty bird," "pretty girl," "bye-bye Angel," and "I love you." My family says I can be a bit noisy in the mornings and evenings, and when people are talking in another room without me! But I think that's pretty normal for my kind, and I just want to be included. I love to be scratched on my head. I'll usually step onto your finger when you ask. So, perhaps you'd like to become my forever family, and enjoy lots of fluffy, snuggly, entertaining companionship with me? Notice: Due to the notoriously difficult nature of cockatoos, Mickaboo prefers that cockatoos not be a households' first parrot.
