Chico here! I'm a 3 year-old male cinnamon pied cockatiel with a grey mask on my face. I came to Mickaboo with a plucking problem and sores on my wings, but I'm over all of that now! Since getting into foster care I've taken mist baths every day to soothe my irritated skin, have made several cockatiel friends, and have converted to a great diet. I've been so busy getting used to this new life that I haven't had the time or the inclination to pluck! As you can see in my picture, I still have bald spots on my wings but I also have a lot of baby feathers coming in! My prognosis is for complete regrowth and a happy, healthy life. I am also learning that people can be my friends. My foster dad walks by my cage several times a day to see how I am doing, and I stand as close as I can to listen to his voice. I am still scared of stepping onto a hand but I have done it a few times. I will eat millet from my foster dad's fingers and, sometimes, I let him pet my head. He says that, in spite of what i have been through, I'm a gentle, friendly bird and I have a lot of love to share. I'm all ready to go to a forever home. My foster dad keeps telling me what a great friend I'll make for someone and I'm beginning to believe him. I will definitely like to go to a home with at least one other cockatiel to be my friend and a human who will give me a little time to get settled in. I should have a long life ahead of me so if you are patient with me while I get used to you, it will pay off for many years. Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
