Sylvester, or "Syl" the umbrella cockatoo here. Im an older fellow of nearly 28 years of age. That's young in parrot years though- I've lived not even half my life yet! I'm a shy yet friendly bird who has lived with the same owner my entire life. (I am only shy until I get to know you though) It was not until my mom needed to move in with 'her' mom that I needed to find a new place to stay. You see my grandma developed allergies to bird dander so we have trouble living together. She coughs and sneezes a lot now. I eat a variety of parrot food and fruits and veggies- I love mangos. Am I a picky eater? No way! I'm willing to try most anything. Being around my human is very important- in fact I'll get down off my cage and follow you around the house to stay close! So, safety is important here especially if you have a cat or dog around. I'm an affectionate bird and miss attention if I don't get it. Out of cage time is extremely important- who likes to sit on the same perch all day anyway right? I like to get out and flap my wings and exercise. I've not been around any other birds since I was a baby- who know I might just like that- or not. You just never know! Notice: Due to the notoriously difficult nature of cockatoos, Mickaboo prefers that cockatoos not be a households' first parrot.
