UPDATE 10/31/05 Here is a report from Millie's foster mom: "Yesterday we had a coming-out-of-quarantine party for Millie the cockatiel. She?s been living here for 6 weeks or more. She finally got to get a good look at all the birdies in the living room she?s been calling out to, especially a handsome white face cockatiel named Herman. We had Avi-cakes and fresh birdie bread to celebrate. Then there was a nice bath in the shower. After 2 weeks of yucky tasting antibiotics, her doctor said she has recovered from the infection she had when she was found on the street in the Mission district of San Francisco. She likes to play with her toys and like most cockatiels, she loves to talk to herself in her favorite mirror. She does step-ups and loves to shoulder surf. When she met the other foster fid Herman, she kept a polite distance but I could see she was pleased to be near another bird with a perky crest just like hers. Millie seems to be an easygoing gal. We?ll never know why she ended up homeless on the streets of San Francisco but she definitely has a home with us until some lucky person adopts her and takes her home forever." I'm Millie, a thoroughly modern cockatiel. As you can see, I'm a lovely pied girl. Somehow I was separated from my first home and was wandering the streets of San Francisco when found. I love to perch on shoulders and fingers but don't understand that step up trick yet. I don't bite, even when I have to take yucky medicine. Fortunately, I'm nearly done with that. My foster mom gives me lots of fun stuff like a mirror to sing to, and a whiffle ball toy to bat around. I'm a curious kid who is always ready to investigate the world. I also love to eat. Millet is a favorite but I also enjoy fruit and veggie shish kabobs for breakfast. If you are ready for a sweet fun-time companion, I'm the flapper for you! Story posted on: September 27, 2005 Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
