UPDATE 5/31/10: I'm very sorry to have to tell everyone this, but one of the holidays, Shamrock, died unexpectedly. She did not have a disease, but was eating the dirt in the birds' pot of wheatgrass. Sometimes birds do eat things that are not food -- we don't know why. We have removed the wheatgrass. The other budgies are doing well, and eat leafy greens and broccoli without problems.

What is your favorite time of year -- the holidays, right? Well, that's us! We're a mixed bouquet of budgies, all about a year old, and full of energy. We were named for the holidays and you get to guess which holiday is which. Ok, if you look at our picture, the turquoise and white boy-budgie is Cadence. Next to him is a little girl named Shamrock. Next to Shamrock is a little boy named Firecracker, and next to Firecracker is a little girl named Jingle. After Jingle is another little girl called Champagne. The little boy on the separate perch is Dreidel.

We're a happy bunch of young birdies, who were cared for well in a home where we were loved. We've eaten pellets since we were first brought home from a pet store, and we love our veggies! Our person even took us to the doctor for a well bird check up. So...have you guessed which holidays we were named for? Then we have a much more important question -- would you like to be a home for the holidays? Because that's what we all need now -- a new and forever home. Give it some thought -- imagine how much more cheerful your home would be with us in it!

Notice: Due to the highly social nature of parakeets, unless a household currently includes a parakeet, Mickaboo generally requires that a minimum of two parakeets be adopted.
