Sometimes it just takes the right match the bring out the best in a bird--or person, for that matter. I'm Chloe, a young pearly-pied cockatiel hen. I was found in the scary outdoors and taken to an animal shelter. My missing tail probably was a hint that my free-flying experience was not all its cracked up to be. Maybe a cat was involved, because I was traumatized by those cats at the shelter. Anyway, it turned out I was healthy but timid, and rather aloof, especially around men. My idea of a good time was listening to a woman pal sing Gilbert and Sullivan. At least, that was as good as it got until I met my new special friend, a 9-year-old little girl. Fortunately, she belongs to a couple of parents who were happy to adopt me. Now my tail has grown back, I'm looking great and eating well, and enjoy singing to the other cockatiel in the house. (I don't do Gilbert and Sullivan, but my own tunes.) I enjoy wandering and exploring, so they keep a close eye on me. I'm glad they do, because I want to grow up with my new best friend. Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
