For more information about the birds from the San Francisco flock that come into Mickaboo, check out our new blog that shares stories, news updates, pictures, and other information about the birds we've helped in the past and are helping now: http://wild-parrots.livejournal.com/profile Updated: Funny how weddings affect lives so much. I mean, besides the bride and groom starting a new life, sometimes lives change when people meet at the wedding, and sometimes lives change because of wedding plans. When my foster mom got married, I went to live for two weeks with another Mickaboo volunteer. I've been here ever since! My new Mom added the name "Pan" and is trying to teach me to say "thimble!" when kissed and to ask "Where's Tinkerbell?" I almost have "thimble" figured out, but I just look at her funny when she asks about Tink. As for my back injury, in the last few months my legs have strengthened to the point where I can actually push up on them to standing - but only for a second or two. We have no idea how far my recovery will go, but my new adoptive family loves me no matter what and cheers whenever I reach a new milestone, even if it's just a very small mile. :)
My name is Peter and I'm too young to have a very long story. I'm a Telegraph Hill cherry-headed conure baby. I had the bad luck to fly into a window and injure my spinal cord, but I had the good luck to be found. My rescuer thought I was dead, but (good luck again) I began moving just in time to skip the funeral march and be rushed to an avian vet instead. My injury has interfered with the use of my legs, but I am already showing improvement. I can eat on my own, so you don't need to worry about that. With good care and a carefully designed cage set up, who knows how far I can go? There's nothing wrong with my heart, so I'm ready to take my place in a loving human flock.
