My name is Topper, and I'm a 25-year-old cherry head conure. I'm a lucky bird who's lived my whole life in one home, but now my family is moving, and I've decided to stay here in sunny California with Mickaboo. As you can see, I've done a little plucking... When my budgie buddy died, I missed him a lot and so I pulled out a few feathers. They probably won't grow back now, but my foster mom says I'm so darn cute it just doesn't matter. I have a lot to say for a conure and love to join in phone conversations. I say "Okay", "How you doing?", "Right now.", "Julie", "Good night!", and I bark and laugh. As soon as my new mom gets home from work, I call out real loud to let her know I'm ready to come out and tell her all about my day. I step right up and tell her it's okay, cause I know she feels bad about going to work and leaving me during the day. But she has to work so she can buy me all those special new foods she's been sneaking into my seed! Then she sits down with me for a nice long chat. Since I have arthritis and no primary feathers on my wings, I have a bit of a balance problem, so she can't move around much or I tend to fall off. Hey, I am 25 years old ya know. But I have a nice new corner platform in my cage that's my favorite place to hang out and nap while I'm waiting for that phone to ring.
