Gunther was born into the San Francisco wild parrot flock around June 2009 and came into Mickaboo in September after crashing into a clear wind barrier on Telegraph Hill. After a few months of hand-feeding and nurturing, he has regained almost full use of his legs and can hang, perch and land like any normal bird. He is completely tame now, flies like an expert and (usually) comes when called. He doesn't like head scratches so much anymore, but is very happy to land on an outstretched hand and demonstrate his growing vocabulary -- at the moment he says, "Hiiiii," and he's working on a variety of other phrases, though nothing intelligible yet. His foster home says he's an absolute joy to have around, and will make a great companion for the right humans. Gunther still has some difficulty getting around using his legs, and will need to go to a home that can safely provide an environment in which he can be fully flighted, and which will work with him on recall.
