Hello! I'm Mickey, an older gentleman of 50-60 years, according to my surrenderer. I'm a gentle soul and I am well socialized and love my people. However, I do not like direct handling and being picked up. Sadly, my caretaker of the last 20 years just lost her home to foreclosure and is moving into a small senior studio apartment that does not allow pets. She is devastated - and in fact could not bear to be home when Mickaboo came to pick me up. She loved me to pieces - I even had my own room! I have been fed well - lots and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and some parrot seed mix. I should learn to eat pellets too but that can come a bit later once I get used to my new surroundings. I went to the vet for a check up and so far everything seems to be ok. I am fully feathered with just a tiny bit of plucking on my legs and a very small patch on my shoulder. I have gorgeous & soulful eyes and like to come to the edge of the cage to visit with you. No hands though please. I am afraid of them and brooms - reminders of days in the past when life was not so good. This foster home where I am must like cockatoos! I can hear several other moluccans - but cannot see them yet as I am still in new bird quarantine. My foster mom is impressed with my size - I am a big boy! If you like cockatoos, and don't mind me being a bit shy - at least at first - perhaps we can room together. What do you think? Get ahold of my coordinator and perhaps we can meet and see if we 'click' or not. I'll be waiting! While I like people of all kinds I have a special place in my heart for the ladies. Notice: Due to the notoriously difficult nature of cockatoos, Mickaboo prefers that cockatoos not be a households' first parrot.
