I've had a pretty great life compared to so many of the other birds in Mickaboo. I spent more than 20 years with a loving family that took excellent care of me and my bird buddy Grover. We had toys, a variety of foods (including pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving), and lots of play time out of the cage. My caretakers developed some health issues as they aged and decided it was time to place Grover and me with Mickaboo to find another great home. This has been a rough year for me because I used to share my cage with an older lady bird who died. We were very bonded to each other and her death was hard for me. I stopped talking to show my grief. Then my older caretakers told me it was time to move on too. I'm in a wonderful foster home where its summer time and the livin' is easy. I've always been a little shy and when strangers come around I hang upside down in my cage. It helps me to be invisible, right? My foster mom says I'm delightful and I showed her I knew how to step up on a perch stick. I enjoy spending time out of the cage. Yellow Nape Amazons are usually pretty good talkers and my former owner said I was. I've been quiet for a while now. If you are an experienced amazon caretaker and would like to begin to have some low-key conversations, maybe a little singing, with me I might just be your new best friend. Notice: Due to the sometimes difficult nature of amazons, Mickaboo prefers that amazons not be a households' first parrot.
