UPDATE 4/2/06: "Neon is absolutely fantastic! She is without a doubt the sweetest bird ever. She's very mellow, and since she's the only female out of six cockatiels, you can well imagine that she is much loved by her new brothers. Especially Diego (another Mickaboo bird); I think he considers Neon his and his alone. He just wants to sit right next to her all the time, and she seems perfectly happy having him to protect her. She is well aware of our routine and knows that when I come home from work, she is my first priority, and we'll sit for a few hours with the other birds and watch television, where she demands constant touching. She just fits right in perfectly. I just started letting her sleep in the big aviary and she loves that, but I miss not having her in the bedroom with me. I wanted to keep her separate from the other birds for a while, until they really got to know one another, but it's clear that she loves being with them in the aviary. So, all in all, we couldn't be happier. And, I'm speaking for Neon as well!!!" Hello, World, I'm Neon. Once you see how bright my yellow head is, you don't need to ask where the name came from! I'm a very bright yellow and dark gray pied female cockatiel. I'm also very tame and very sweet-natured, or so my foster mom keeps telling everyone! I LOVE head skritches. Coming home from the hospital, I kept trying to get my foster dad's fingers to scratch me through the plastic carrier. Didn't work, but I sure tried. I was surrendered to Mickaboo because I had a growth on my beak. It turned out to just be a benign polyp, but it grew pretty fast and my previous owners didn't feel they could deal with it. Mickaboo had it removed, and I'm back to being my gorgeous self. It might come back in the future, but it can be removed again then, too. I lost a little weight after the surgery, but I'm eating everything in sight now (pellets, cakes, fresh veggies) to make up for it. You know what the song says, "Everything will be all right as long as there's light from a neon moon." (Or something like that.) If a sweet, affectionate, playful cockatiel is what you need to make your life all right, I'm the Neon birdie for you. Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
