Little is known about Jack's past; he was found flying around and turned into the animal shelter. And although we can only guess how much he traveled before, once Mickaboo bailed him out the shelter, he had to practically travel cross-country to get to his new foster home. Despite being lost and on his own, he has all the bright brilliant colors a blue and gold macaw is known for. And while his tail has been mussed up a bit, he has all his feathers and is simply gorgeous. He also likes to dance and will do almost anything for a walnut. Since arriving at his foster home he has proven to be shy and gentle. He is still too shy to step-up, but he has started to show off his speaking ability. So far he has said "hello", "come here", Uh-oh", and does several whistles. He is very curious about the other macaws in the house and calls to them frequently. He may have been lost and his past a mystery, but his future is bright and who knows, you might be a part of it! UPDATE 8/13/09 The DNA results are in and Jack is a boy. His foster mom calls him Handsome Jack because his feathers and colors are simply stunning. He has learned how to step-up, but still does not like to be touched. He doesn't bite, but will gently grab your finger and push it away with an indignant squawk. Despite not likeing to be touched, he really enjoy human company and loves to be talked to. He is also a chatter-box and has three distinct voices. We don't always know what he is saying but he can be very entertaining. Print this page |
