Come see us at Andy's Pet Shop! UPDATE 3/10/08: Jake and Shrimp are doing great! They don't bite anymore and will get on your finger with a little coaxing. They love to hang out on shoulders and chew everything they can get their little beaks on. Jake likes to take baths in the sink and doesn't mind the occasional misting. They are a joy to have around! UPDATE 10/16/06 Jake and Shrimp have paired up nicely. Shrimp's the more spontaneous/curious type while Jake tends to follow her lead. They are both on a pellet diet and have healthy appetites for couscous, quinoa and veggies. Jake still nips due to still being suspicious of human intent. However, they have made progress warming up to us. They will fly to your shoulder and sing/talk to you or enjoy each other's company preening on top of their cage. Chewing and shredding toys is another favorite, when they're not swinging on them like monkies. They don't wake up at an unbearable hour-which is nice but can be heard singing and chirping throughout the day. Hi, we're Shrimp and Jake. We recently came to live at our new foster-home and we have bonded and would like to be adopted together. Here are our separate stories: My name is Jake. Not much is known about me. I was brought to the shelter by my former owners who didn't take the time to fill out a biography on me, so Mickaboo wasn't able to hear about my likes and dislikes. It was pretty clear to my foster mom that my old guardians really didn't spend a whole lot of time with me. At the moment, I am not very tame but I am very interested in people. I hang on to the cage bars when people are near and talk to them and I think that someday with the right amount of attention and time, I'd like to be friends with people. I also have a very pretty song (I'm told). I have learned to peck at pellets a little bit but for the moment I'm still a seed junkie. I do however, love sugar snap peas! I run to my treat dish to eat those right away! I also eat a little bit of apple but I haven't gotten used to the carrots yet. I also wouldn't mind having another lovebird friend if it's possible. I hear the other lovebirds in the house and I want to be with them. So if you have a lonely lovebird looking for a friend or want to be a friend to a lonely lovebird, I'm the one for you!
And I'm Shrimp. I was spotted
in a family's back yard, flying free. When it became nightfall, the nice people climbed up a ladder to rescue me off of their trellis - talk about some heroes! I'll be forever grateful. The little boy there became my new best friend and named me Shrimp. He was so sad when I left that the nice folks at Mickaboo promised that I'd keep the name - so here I
am! I am a very unique lovebird as I am a cross between a standard peachface lovebird and a black masked lovebird. I look like a peachface but have black cheeks and the white eye ring. I am a mix of the best from both lovebird worlds! I'm not tame at
all and am pretty darn skittish - that's my white eye ring side coming out. But my foster mom has never met a lovie that couldn't be tamed so if you have the time and energy, I'll come around. And of course whether you tame me or not, I'd be so happy if I found a lovebird friend for the rest of my life. I'm in good health, I eat pellets, and I LOVE the veggies dish I get every morning. Couscous, quinoa, and all those veggies - yum! I look beautiful, I'll eat all the healthy stuff you give me, and I'll fill your home with song - why wait any longer, call Mickaboo today about this little Shrimp!
