UPDATE 2/22/08: Moon Pie is such a character! He is definitely not cuddly but he does enjoy human interaction. If you whistle to him he will repeat it. He whistles and sings beautifully. He loves to be around other cockatiels so he definitely needs to go to a home with at least one other bird. Moon Pie will do great in a home that will love him from a distance and appreciate his musical talents. I am one of the many shelter birds taken in by Mickaboo, so nothing is known of my past. In the present, I am a handsome bird named for a sweet treat, Moon Pie. I'm proud and alert and quite the acrobat. I may hold the record for the upside down cage climb and just plain hanging upside down! I eat my pellets but don't yet understand fresh food. Right now, I'm a bit wary of people because I had to be medicated twice a day for a while. (Don't worry--no health problems now.) I'll step up on my terms, meaning I'll use a hand if that's the only transportation available to my destination. Sometimes I sing to the other cockatiels in my foster home and even respond to the ice cream truck and sirens I hear--maybe that's how I learned to chirp and squawk like a car alarm. Toys don't interest me much yet, but that could change if I ever learn how to use a toy as a gymnastic apparatus. I appreciate a set bedtime. In fact, if you forget, I'll whistle (three times) to let you know it is time to cover me. My foster mom is working on helping me trust people. Are you the person to earn my trust? Print this page |
