I've been happily adopted, but check below for a list of other sweet birds who need a home!

Update 10/27/09: I seem to be having some real fashion ideas and they do not include blonde hair.
Update 07/08/2009: Just a note to let all know how I'm doing. My beak has healed up just fine. It's a little scarred, but the vet says it will grow out. I'm still eating like a champ and I have even learned how to wear a harness. Wearing a harness is fun, whenever I put it on, I get to go out and see new places and meet new people. I am a real friendly guy and love attention. My social life has been a little up and down lately. I meet a real cute cockatoo named Georgi and we became good friends. But she got adopted and left me here with my old pal Drake, and then he got adopted too! I really hope I get adopted soon! But I really hope my future home has another cockatoo I can make friends with, because even though I get lots of love and attention from my foster family, I'm a little lonely.

My name is Dante. I was named after the famous poet and my foster home says it fits because I have the soul of a poet. I'm a soft and lovable 5 year old (probably male) umbrella cockatoo who likes all humans but I really get soft hearted for the ladies. I came to Mickaboo with my best friend Drake (and Peaches) after our much beloved owner passed away and his family didn't think they could give us a proper home. Please excuse my beak job. Drake threw a fit over a having to share a food dish and my beak bore the brunt of his adolescent aggression. I have finished all my medicines (which I really dislike) and the avian vet says my beak should be fine, but it will take a while to heal completely. My poor beak was a little crooked before and you would think the doctor could have fixed that at the time too, but alas, it's still crooked. It's a good thing it never bothered me before! I love to eat, play and snuggle. My foster parents introduced me to pellets and I eat them with gusto - along with almost any fruit and vegetable you place in my bowl, but I really adore apples! I don't talk yet, but I do try to whistle like my friend Peaches did (I'm not very good at it). For the most part I am a very quiet for a cockatoo. I have my moments, but compared to Drake, I'm the silent partner. I love to play with toys, but while my beak is still a little tender, I'm happy to play with rope and shredding toys. I have a lot of love and life to share. Give me half a chance and I will snuggle my way into your heart forever.

Notice: Due to the notoriously difficult nature of cockatoos, Mickaboo prefers that cockatoos not be a households' first parrot. If you intend to house a cockatoo, please research the following websites:
