I'm Elgie. That's "L.G." - short for "Little Girl" - although no one seems to know whether I'm really a girl. I AM really a sweetheart - at least everyone seems to agree on that much! No one knows where I came from either, but my appearance and behavior suggest I may have been living out on the mean streets for awhile. My story begins about a year ago when I flew into a liquor store. A volunteer from Mickaboo found out and took me home. I wasn't tame at all then. I didn't know what it meant to "step up" and I was scared of everything. But all that's changed. What a difference a year of security and love can make! Now I enjoy being cupped in my foster parent's hand and having my head scratched. I like shoulder surfing on my human friend and will hop over from my cage any time. Life is good. There are showers in the morning, great food, and a nice view of the outdoors with all those other birds to watch and talk to. And do you know what else is really great? This new home has another bird, a moustache parakeet, who's really a pretty good guy. We're not exactly bonded, but I like hanging out with him during the day while my human is at work. Sometimes I get a little defensive about my food dish (hey! maybe you would too if you'd had to survive not knowing where your next meal was coming from), but otherwise I'm very cooperative about stepping up and going back in my cage. I'll even say "Peekaboo!" (or maybe it's really "Mickaboo!") I could be a great friend for someone who could give me the time and affection I deserve. And it might work out really well if I could find another bird too (lovebirds are affectionate and gregarious and can make friends with different kinds of birds, although only kept in the same cage as other lovebirds). If you think you might be able to provide me a home like that, or if you just want to find out more about an such amazing, great bird, please contact my adoption coordinator. Print this page |
