Hi, I'm Bert. I'm a twenty eight year old eleonora cockatoo with both a sad and happy past. Twenty years ago I was brought to a vet to be euthanized because I have Psitticine Beak and Feather disease - which is usually terminal within a very short time. A lady who worked there felt bad and took me home with her. She loved me and cared for me for twenty years, until she lost her home and had to move and find homes for not only me but all her other pets as well. I can't live in a home with other birds because my disease is very contagious, but fortunately Mickaboo hooked me up with a new family right away. Everyone loves me - I like to put on the 'Bert show' and show off for you. I dance wildly to hip hop music and do a deep belly laugh- it's quite funny if I do say so myself. I like to give kisses on your cheek and put my head under your chin for comfort. I play with toys and bounce all over the place. I like to play in my dish of dry food and sift it through with my foot and let it run through my toes. I respond to 'Birdilicious', and when you say 'Where's Big Bird'? I stretch up my little wings and make myself look as big as I can. Really I am quite the ham. I'm pleased to have a new place with a nice family even though I miss my other one too. Notice: Due to the notoriously difficult nature of cockatoos, Mickaboo prefers that cockatoos not be a households' first parrot.
