Hello, I'm the Moluccan cockatoo who was briefly known as Otis. Now I'm called Peaches. I think that fits me better, as I can be sweet as one if I like you. Mickaboo rescued me from Animal Control, where I waited for a month for someone to spring me. I picked up a not so small "barking" noise at the shelter, maybe from a near-by Chihuahua. I will scream for attention, especially when in competition with another 'too. I usually express myself the loudest in the evening. My motto is ?I will not be ignored.? I do need plenty of your regular attention, and do best if I?m around people the majority of the time. I prefer human women to men, but I'm not aggressive towards the males of your species, just shy. Those tall thin guys kind of scare me. The best guess is that I?m an adolescent male, from the way I carry on. I need a strong owner that is not intimidated by my strong will and dominant personality. I?m not a bird for the meek! My only means of defense is my beak and I will use it when things don?t go my way. They say I?m a bit of a wild thing, but I think I?m just acting normal. I can be very playful in my cage and hang upside down and swing around on my rope. YOU fetch is one of my favorite games. I also like chewable toys made of wood and plastic. Give me an empty yogurt cup or a plastic peanut butter jar and I?m a happy camper. I?m also very mechanical and love to take things apart. I?m really good at unscrewing anything! I appreciate a good song and will dance for you if I like the melody. I can be a lover and adore having my head and neck scritched and massaged. I'm learning to step up, but for now will do it on my own terms, which is usually to get out of my cage! I?m kind of a picky eater. I was a bit of a seed junkie, but I pick out the ones I like. I think the rest should just be tossed, which I sometimes do. I do like potatoes, apples, yams, strawberries, sugar peas, oranges, tangerines, grapes, cheese, popcorn, and some dried fruit. My foster mom thinks she?s pretty smart. She fools me into eating pellets and other things that are ?good for me.? She makes me hot cereal with pellets, oatmeal, and lots of cinnamon every morning. I like those corn muffins with the pellets, veggies and cayenne pepper pretty well too. I shy away from anything green, but I have been known to eat almost an entire jar of green baby food when fed with an eyedropper. Notice: Due to the notoriously difficult nature of cockatoos, Mickaboo prefers that cockatoos not be a households' first parrot. If you intend to house a cockatoo, please research the following websites:
