UPDATE 4/24/06: "Kaia is doing just great. She has proven to embody all of the characteristics of a goffins that you read. She?s cuddly and willingly offers all parts of her head to be scratched. She is playful and constantly is looking for something to tug on, rattle, or hang from. She has also has proved to be quite the dancer, jumping up and down, swaying from side-to-side, and barking out her version of a tune. Quite the little clown!" Hello, I'm Kaia, one of a trio of severely neglected birds confiscated by animal control. Mickaboo is helping all of us start new and better lives. My foster dad sums me up in a few words: "a great bird but a bit of a handful." I love being scratched all over my head, and allow touching just about anywhere on my fluffy body. I use my beak to explore but sometimes get carried away and bite. My beak is sharp so humans don't seem to appreciate this habit. Because of my difficult past, I haven't learned about stepping up and am still not comfortable coming out of my cage. This means I expect people to come to me for my entertainment pleasure. Of course, the obvious way to accomplish this is to scream loudly, something I have a great ability to do. My foster dad is trying to teach me some alternatives. I'm probably about 10, long enough to develop my habits but still pretty young for a Goffin's. I'm a smart cockatoo, though (the only kind), so I can learn how to be a happy camper in a good home. Notice: Due to the notoriously difficult nature of cockatoos, Mickaboo prefers that cockatoos not be a households' first parrot.
