Jeremy here. I was found wandering around a park in Palo Alto, looking for food and safety. The bald patch on the back of my neck probably means that I was attacked by a cat or other predator who, like me, was looking for food. Talk about being on the wrong end of a deal! Being a good flyer and a quick thinker, I managed to escape without any other injury, just some lost feathers. My next stop was at an animal shelter, where I was kept outdoors in a cage near the dogs. I enjoyed the sunlight but the companionship left something to be desired. I have nothing against dogs, mind you, but I did hiss at them to let them know who was boss! Luckily for me, Mickaboo works with the shelters to help little guys like me get into more bird-friendly homes. I'm just getting settled into foster care but so far am doing quite well, thank you. I sing a little and call out to the cockatiels and budgies that I hear in different rooms. As soon as I am done with quarantine I will enjoy meeting them! I was a bit light when I got here but am eating very well so that is no longer a concern. I love unsalted brown rice cakes and have been known to nibble on a few greens that my foster mom left me. I also eat pellets and a little bit of seed mix with dry vegetables. I will get less and less seed mix as I become better acclimated to healthier foods. I am young and strong and becoming more comfortable around people each day. The feathers on my neck are growing back and I am ready to leave that whole scary ordeal behind me. Hopefully, the next stop on my life's journey will be with a loving person or family who will keep me safe forever! Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
