Hello daahling, I am Garbo the cockatiel. I'm a sweet quiet, contemplative bird and, like my movie star namesake, I have an aura of glamour and secrecy about me. I also have a bit of danger in my past but those days are behind me. I was rescued by Mickaboo from a shelter in the South Bay, where I was scheduled to be euthanized the next day. Yep, my number was just about up and I'm still just a young girl -- probably under a year old! So I am very lucky to be safe here in my foster home. After this ordeal, I'm still a bit scared of people (wouldn't you be?!) but my foster mom says that I am getting braver all the time. I'm in an aviary with other birds and their companionship has helped me to settle in and feel secure. Now I am learning to trust people again. I like watching them very closely with my big dark eyes, especially when they're bringing me food or talking to me. I love being sweet-talked and will sit quietly and listen to you for as long as you will talk nicely to me. My quiet concentration makes me seem enigmatic, which is how my foster mom came to name me Garbo. I am also learning that hands are not always scary and that stepping up is fun! I will do well in a home with other cockatiels and people who will keep me company. Since I am young and strong, a little one-on-one time with the right human companions will do wonders for me.
