Clipper and Pixley are cherryheads from the SF wild parrots of Telegraph hill. Each of them came to Mickaboo with injuries that have been treated. Pixley is now very active, climbing around, flapping her wings, and playing with toys. Both are also great eaters, they love foraging and eat all of their vegetables, fruits, flowers, and pellets. It's delightful to watch them nibbling on edible flowers and herbs from our garden. Clipper had some neurological damage but has shown great progress and is able to get around quite well in her cage and on her playstand. She has even learned some clicker training! Pixley does take care of Clipper, often bringing her food to eat or ripping the wax paper covering off of the foraging bowls for her. These two are best buddies which is obvious when you see the two of them snuggling together and grooming each other. Clipper and Pixley get lots of out of cage time in the evenings and on weekends, and are a delight to watch and are quite self-sufficient, playing in and atop their cage and on the playstand. Since they were from the wild flock, they are still a bit shy of humans, but are slowly becoming more comfortable and trusting, even doing some clicker training. When it's "bedtime" they are a good little pair and run into their cage for their night-time pinenut treats, which they eat with great enthusiasm. With time and patience, we expect them to slowly enjoy their human family more and more.
