Linus is a sweet, very intelligent and cute little bird who needs a little time to get used to a new person. But once he does, he loves attention. He has quickly learned to trust his foster dad, whom he has grown very fond of. They shower together and Linus enjoys sitting on Daddy's shoulder relaxing in a chair or wandering about the house doing chores. Linus is pretty quiet when he can ride around on his dad's shoulder or just hang out with him. But, if left alone for too long, he can let you know he would like some attention. He just loves having his favorite person around and he'll make cute little sounds to let you know how happy you've made him. Linus also enjoys clicker-training and has learned to do "touch" and "turn-around." He particularly likes toys that he can tear up and shred to pieces or, better yet, floor toys that he can toss about. He loves his foraging mix and enjoys tearing the wax paper off the bowls to get at the goodies. Linus is a lot calmer than when he first came to Mickaboo but, he can still get easily frightened. A jay swooping past the window or a delivery man coming up the front stairs is never ignored by Linus, who makes a very good "watch parrot." And of course he participates in the morning and evening conure flock-calls, like most parrots, as well as the occasional outburst to share, "HURRAY I'M A CONURE!!" Depending on the bird, Linus will sit by another conure to do clicker-training, and he's starting to hang out with our blue crown and cherry headed conures, eating out of the same bowls and hanging out on the playstand. He's definitely becoming more relaxed and curious. If you think that you would be able to work with Linus and continue helping him learn to be less frightened and more self-sufficient, contact the Mickaboo conure coordinator! Print this page |
