This happy family includes Cricket (the green and yellow boy budgie), Opal (the grey winged blue budgie), and Paco and Saffi (two blue girl budgies). Here's more about them: Saffi: - Absolutely adores daily showers with misting bottle. - To be misted while simultaneously playing in a dangling leaf of wet romaine is Saffi's dream come true! - Prefers sprouted seed bread or fresh millet to pellets. - A bit overweight, so it's best to reinforce those pellets! - Cricket's sometimes girlfriend, and good friend to her sister, Paco. - Loves to devour baby carrots, broccoli, and apple slices. - Along with her sister, Paco, Saffi finds great pleasure in making music by rhythmically strumming the manzanita perches. Lovely! - Likes to wake up s-l-o-w-l-y in the morning, just like her sisters. Cricket's a "morning budgie." Cricket: - The love of Opal's life. - Waits for the ladies to eat breakfast while he cleans up the night poops off the flock's furniture. - Can't stand to be too far away from Opal. - Feeds Opal with little budgie kisses and warm regurgitated meals. - Preens his Love, Opal, and the other two girls (at times). - Eats the Harrison's pellets really well, but still prefers millet. - Doesn't like to be sprayed with mister, but loves to shower himself in dangling wet leaves of romaine. - Takes care of Saffi and Paco, his flock mate with some (congenital) missing toes. - Sings beautifully! Opal: - The love of Cricket's life. - Grooms Cricket when he has new pin feathers. - Steps up on the human flock's fingers with glee. - Loves to fly and circle around the room for some exercise. - Always comes back as she can't be too long away from Cricket and the girls. - Is addicted to broccoli. She'll choose it over millet at times! - Gives little budgie preening to her human flock's hair, too. - Eats pellets like a champion. - Showers in dangling leaves, - Make sounds like a grumpy dolphin when she doesn't get her way -- she's a bit of a diva! Paco: - An inspiration when you feel overwhelmed. She's overcome so much potential adversity. - With a few missing toes (since hatching) and a partially missing forearm (since hatching), she still climbs to every branch in the cage. - Addicted to millet, but successfully eats her Harrison's pellets daily. - Secretly in love with Cricket. She serenades him for two hours every evening starting at dusk. - She's referred to by her human flock as the "Master guitar player," as she plucks and strums the branches like a virtuoso! - Eats all her fresh veggies with gusto, but the sprouted flax seed bread is still her favorite (after millet, of course). - Is starting to tolerate the shower mister, but not as much as Saffi does. If you allow her to play in wet leaves, you can spray her quite easily. - She has the voice in the flock. She may be little, but her lungs are grand! Print this page |
