"Hello, Oliver." That?s what I say in the morning when my foster mom wakes me up, followed by "Cock-a-doodle-doo!" I am Oliver, a 46 year young, yellow-naped amazon. I was left at a shelter by my previous owners without much explanation. Mickaboo has been great though. They took me in and found me a nice big cage equipped with rope perches. For fun, I like to pretend I?m a kitty and meow to get my foster mom?s attention. When my foster dad comes by, I growl and hiss just like a kitty too. I like to keep ?em guessing. So, I suppose it?s good to mention here that I prefer women. But my foster dad is okay though, I just like mom better. I am helpful around the house and like to stay green. I am a pro-active recycling machine. I am able to viciously shred anything made out of cardboard?toilet paper rolls, Kleenex boxes, you name it and I?ll destroy it! It helps reduce my carbon footprint, whatever that means. Most of the time, I just like to sit in the window. I?m pretty quiet. I love a good nap and often snore while doing so. Napping is way underrated. As a matter of fact, I take several naps throughout the day, sometimes out in the sunshine. It doesn?t matter if the kids living in this house are running around being loud, or if the giant dog is cleaning scraps from under my cage, I nap GOOOOOD. Not a care in the world. It?s a good life let me tell you. Meow. I have to take some medicine every day for my heart, just a tiny bit though. My foster mom gives it to me with applesauce and I gobble it right up. My doctor may take me off of it in a month or so, but for now, I need it. The doctor also says that I am partially blind because I have cataracts. My foster mom swears that I see perfectly though, nothing gets by me! Actually, if you want to know a secret, I?m the perfect bird. I don?t scream, I don?t throw my food around the house and I don?t demand a lot of attention. I DO like to have time to myself, that?s for sure. I have a feeling that I won?t be homeless for long. Do you want to meet me? Notice: Due to the sometimes difficult nature of amazons, Mickaboo prefers that amazons not be a households' first parrot.
