New update! Letty is really Lex, a handsome boy budgie. Now that he is well, we can see what color the cere (nose band) is -- and it's pale blue, for boy. Letty/Lex is cured! As you can see from the new picture, she is back to being a healthy budgie. She is also very pretty -- her wings are an unusual pattern of green stripes on yellow -- very striking (budgies usually have black stripes on their wings). As horrible as Letty's condition was, we were only able to take her in because an Angel came forward to pay her vet bills. We (Letty and Mickaboo) are very grateful for the kindness and generosity that helped her to get well. Letty has been living under conditions that must have been very poor. She came in to Mickaboo with a case of scaly mites that was worse than we have ever seen (and we have seen some horrible infestations). Her entire face, the top of her head, both feet and legs, and part of her belly were covered with the crusty buildup that results from scaly mites burrowing into a bird's skin and soft tissues. We can only imagine what hellish pain, itching, and other sensations this must cause. Thanks to a Mickaboo angel, Letty is being treated for the mites infestation, and she began feeling and acting better and happier as soon as the treatment was started. After three weeks, she looks a little scruffy, but she is active, playing with toys, and giving her foster mom a lot of sass. And...now that we can see here cere (the band across her nose), we changed Letty's name to Lex. The cere is blue, which means Lex is a boy budgie. Print this page |
