Hi, I'm butters a very pretty yellow girl love bird. My buddy Wiley is a green boy love bird with a peach face. We are both a few years old and were surrendered to an animal shelter because our mommy was very elderly and couldn't care for us any more. The shelter gave us to Mickaboo to care for since I was very sick, with a respiratory infection and calcium deficiency because I kept thinking that I want to lay an egg. I had a very hard time breathing, I was very tired, very sad. I was lucky enough to get to an avian vet who prescribed antibiotics and calcium drops. I can tell you I didn't really like daddy putting drops in my little beak every day, but after a few weeks, I am feeling so much better. My buddy Wiley and I also hadn't had a very good diet; all we used to eat was seeds. As part of getting healthier, we have been eating a much better variety of foods. We are starting to like broccoli, spinach, rice, carrot shreds, and of course we like our nutriancakes. We are also trying to learn to like pellets, because we know they are good for us.. We only get a little seed every day, and while we would rather eat seeds, we know the variety is making us healthier and happier. Wiley is a good eater, and tries everything we get. I tend to watch him and see if he likes new food first (tee-hee). We love to play and chew on our toys, and we love getting new fresh branches to play and jump on. Wiley and I love to chase each other around the cage, hop around and hang upside down. We would love to find a nice family to be a part of. We are not hand tamed but we are very curious and like to interact with people (right now we are watching daddy type)! We like being part of a flock. We take food out of the hands of women, but we are much more hesitant with men (probably because we miss our mommy, and this new guy spent weeks giving me medicine- yuck!). We have a nice big cage, and a platform that we like to sleep on, though my new parents are going to have to take some care not to let me build a nest and to keep changing my environment around. The doctor says if I lay too many eggs it would be bad for my health, and I want to stay being a happy bouncy bird. But we are both very sweet and curious birdies..We know that we could be nice companions for someone who had a good home for us! Print this page |
