Lovebird foster parents agree...We Adore Our Lovebirds!
Have you ever heard how the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree? Well, that's me -- Apple! I'm a 5 month old lovebird and though I'm a day or so older than my sibling Fig, you always see me hanging out close to my Mom and Dad (Anjou & Bosc.) I think they're pretty cool and I'm learning all about life from them. The coolest thing I've learned so far from my Dad is to say Ruh-roh. I don't know why but my foster mom laughs every time I do it. Though my color is still coming in, I'm a Dutch blue lovebird and my foster mom thinks I'll have a lot of the slate color just like my mommy. I'm a good little guy who always finishes all my pellets and vegetables, but I do love having some millet for dessert -- hey, all kids need candy! I love to play on piatas and swing on leather ropes but my favorite thing is jumping from boing to boing. Little baby birds are just like puppies and kittens, we needs lots of fun playtime and mental stimulation so we can learn all about life. My Mom and Dad told me life wasn't always this good and I'm so thankful to Mickaboo for saving us. Because of Mickaboo, I've only had good times in life. I'm still nervous around people but there are times when I'll cuddle into my foster mom's neck and ride around on her fingers. I just don't like the whole "step up" thing and being grabbed by hands. But as a 5 month old lovebird, you have the possibility of spending the next 25 years with me and teaching me all about that. I'd love to have our whole family adopted together, especially if we were able to live in an indoor aviary. But I also know that sometimes kids just need to break out on their own and find their own way in life. And no, I don't really want to live with my sibling all my life, would you? I want to meet new people, new birds and have new adventures. So call Mickaboo today and take me home. Together, we'll take a big bite out of life!! Story posted on: June 7, 2005 Print this page |
