I've been happily adopted, but check below for a list of other sweet birds who need a home!

Update 6/20/06: Hi, Emerald here. I am now adopted by my foster mom. My flock has 6 other birds in our bird room with lots of climbing ropes and playgyms. Believe it or not I am the quietest one! My mom has learned my body language and knows that when I fluff up I might bite, but she calls my bluff and has me step up anyway. . .even when I hide on my perch behind a hanging sisal rope with wood pieces that I shake to show I mean business. She puts her finger next to me and I step right up. I love to sit on Mom's shoulder and cuddle in her hair and give birdie kisses. One of my favorite spots is on a playgym in front of a window in the living room where I can watch the hummingbirds and grey squirrels drinking out of the water fall outside. Sometimes my new brother, PeeWee the moustache parakeet, sits with me on this playgym or we hang out on another playgym together. I love foods of all kinds and eat lots ofof fresh veggies, fruit, Harrisons pellets, cereal mix and bean mix. I always say, "Thank You" when given food. Update 9/22/05: Emerald was adopted recently and is being returned for biting his adopter. However, he is not at all aggressive towards his current foster mom. She sweet-talks to him and he steps right up for her and gives kisses, not bites. His foster mom wishes she could keep him, but Emerald is aggressive towards another bird in the house, a handicapped moustache parakeet. I was surrendered by my owner of 6 years, but my foster family thinks I'm a gem. I'm Emerald, and I'm a maroon-bellied conure. Supposedly we are more quiet than aratinga conures, but my foster folks think "quiet" must be a relative term. In fact, I can make a fair amount of noise with my various shrieks. My former owner said I was a biter and I've demonstrated that a little bit (birdie pun). But I am tame, not shy, and I enjoy people, so this biting thing may be managed without too much fuss. I love to play with my plastic "whiffle" ball and will teach you my version of "catch." I give you the ball, then you give it back to me - quick! I must be into sports, because I also entertained my foster family by swimming and diving in the bathtub. So far, my favorite foods seem to be peanuts and dates, but I'll try to work some veggies in there. As you can see, I have a lot to offer. Polishing a precious jewel takes patience and skill, but the reward is a sparkling treasure!
