Lovebird foster parents agree...

We Adore Our Lovebirds!

  • Lovebirds have a zest for life, with big bird personalities in small packages.
  • Outfitted in beautiful colors, they rate at the very top of the cuteness scale.
  • Their non-stop activity keeps us laughing.
  • They’re opinionated and funny – like having your own personal soap opera, except cuter.
  • Musical cheeping fills our homes with cheer.
  • Always curious, these little birds like to be near the center of activity, “chatting” with their humans.
  • Lovebird pairs like to be near us, but are rarely shoulder birds. They prefer hanging out with their Lovebird buddies, and don't need much dedicated time and attention from humans.
  • When tame, single lovebirds can be sweet little shoulder birds. Singles require more attention from their humans because they see you as their mates!
  • Usually ravenous, so easy to feed.
  • You’ll never need a 'paper shredder' if you have lovebirds around.
  • And finally, when in pairs, we think they're perfect birds for people with busy lives.

Updated 9 June, 2006:
Paddy is very sweet and tame with people, loves head scritches. She is eating a little pellets but not converted totally, her weight was low to start so have to take things really slow. She also eats greens and a few other select things. She's on only lovie right now, so we have no idea how she will do with other birds, but that doesn't mean she necessarily needs to be an only bird!

From my name, you might think I'm shamrock green, but actually I'm a sunny yellow lutino peach-faced lovebird named Paddy. I definitely have the luck of the Irish, though, or I wouldn't be alive. I was brought to an animal shelter as a stray, near death from serious wounds. Despite that, I am now strong and very active, as a lovebird should be. I'm also very sweet. I love to sit on the shoulder of my 5-year-old human foster "sister." I even call to her when I hear her get up in the morning. Please come meet me. My sunny disposition and appearance will make your heart dance a jig!
