UPDATE 11/27/05, from Gabby's foster mom: "Gabby is my little Goth foster bird. He's dark, moody, and mysterious. He's more of a bird-bird. He likes to hang out with the flock, but you can usually find him brooding around the edges. Gabby is just looking for someone to love, and easily becomes infatuated with new birdie friends, male or female. Gabby has a lot of potential to be a people-bird if you spend time with him, but if you have a flock, he'd probably prefer to hang out with them. Gabby has shown that he prefers outdoor showers over spray bottle misting, but will do the happy shower dance for both." My story may seem sad, but you don't have to feel sorry for me. I'm Gabby, a handsome dark grey cockatiel, on the small side. My owner passed away, so I came to Mickaboo looking for a new friend. Despite my name, I don't exactly talk, but I have a varied repertoire of my own cute sounds. When I'm out of my cage, I know how to step up, but you have to be persistent. Once you've chased me around a bit, I like to hang out on shoulders. Even with clipped wings, I can fly pretty well, so I don't always stay put. I enjoy the company of other cockatiels but I'm a little "rough around the edges." My foster mom says I'm a punk rock kid trying his best to work his way up the pecking order. In other words, sometimes I'm a bit pushy. I'd probably do best with my own cage, but I enjoy lots of time out with bird friends. I'm learning about pellets and prefer the Harrison's mash/Roudybush crumble-style of pellet. Millet is my favorite "junk food," but I also eat healthy stuff like leafy greens. Showers aren't something I love but I can put up with them. What I really want is some love and companionship. Maybe I was named for that old time sidekick Gabby Hayes because I could be the perfect sidekick for you! Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
