UPDATE 1/4/05: "Peepers has become a beloved family member in just a month. She ate Christmas dinner off of everybody's plates and was quite a star during the holidays. Though she is my first cockatiel, I am sure that she is the best cockatiel ever-always friendly and as tame as a cat, curious and playful with anything dangling. She whistles a greeting whenever someone walks in the front door and expects attention as soon as we're home. The only thing I would say to other new owners is-check out your houseplants in relation to the toxic plant list on the Mickaboo website. Peepers took a sudden trip to the emergency vet one day after she got into my ivy plant. She was fine, but I wasn't taking any chances, and my ivy is no longer a houseplant!" I'm Peepers, the velveteen cockatiel. All cockatiels are soft, but touching me is a truly sensuous experience. Fortunately, I am a "cuddle bug" who loves to be touched. I was surrendered to an animal hospital because it was thought I might have psittacosis. Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. Tests were negative, but Iím responding well to psittacosis treatment and will finish the full course of the medication. Yuck. But then I will be ready for my new home. Maybe you will be the lucky person who will be singing "jeepers, creepers, I'm so glad to have Peepers!" Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
