UPDATE 2/19/06: Tilou has proven to be a polite, well behaved and impeccably groomed little Euro-cosmopolitan. He never has a feather out of place even when he's climbing acrobatically or singing one of his wild bird songs. James Bond would be impressed! Tilou loves friendly, ambient time with people but is not a cuddler. Although he seems happy and more comfortable in foster care every day, he still sings a sad song once in a while. I think he is telling me of what he lost before coming to Mickaboo -- a mate, a special friend, a nice cage, perhaps. Anytime I walk by him in the evening, he acknowledges me with a small, clear chirp, inviting me over to come say hello. He will sit very still and listen through the cage bars when I talk to him. Bonjour, I'm Tilou (Tee-loo), a handsome cockatiel found wandering in Oakland. My finder had to keep me in a bathroom with no natural light and had nothing to feed me but budgie seeds. In my new Mickaboo foster home, I'm already eating pellets. Even though this experience has been bouleversant (I'm trying to learn French from my foster dad), I'm settling down quickly and already am showing that I want human company and attention. So if you want a very bon ami, I could be that good friend you are looking for! Story posted on: July 28, 2005 Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
