UPDATE 8/8/05: "Sneaky Pete now goes by the name 'Peter'. He is a sweet bird who prefers the company of his brothers and sister over that of humans. He will step up after letting you know who is boss. Peter is a great eater who enjoys pellets, brown rice, veggies, avi-cakes, wheat bread and his red chili peppers. His favorite place to be is on top of his cage where he will sing to whoever will listen. Peter absolutely loves to take showers.....he closes his eyes and lets the warm water run over his head. Once in awhile when I talk to him he will respond with little warblings...I know deep down inside he loves me just as much as I love him even though he doesn't show it!" UPDATE 3/23/05: I'm all better, and I'd be a great bird buddy! I've got lots to offer: I love other cockatiels and I get along well with other birds, too. I sing wonderful tunes in the morning and whenever the mood strikes. I love to eat my veggies, pellets, rice, and other whole grains. I step up, cautiously, and if I see other birds are being put back in their cages, I'm happy to comply. I started my life with Mickaboo after almost drowning in a swimming pool, but I'm healthy now and looking to settle down in a home with another cockatiel friend. Hi! My name is Sneaky Pete and I come by my name honestly. I slipped away from one home and landed in a swimming pool. The owners of the pool who rescued me couldn't afford the continued vet care I needed so Mickaboo stepped in. Iím being treated for a fungal infection from that mishap and I snuck out of my hospital cage twice! Well, Iím happier now that Iím in a regular cage and have a buddy in the same room. I still require weekly injections, twice daily oral meds and twice a day nebulizing. Iím a little nervous around people, but my foster mom says that Iím learning to step up on fingers and have great potential. After the pool rescue, I was so skinny my breastbone was visible, but Iím gaining weight and Iím definitely on the mend! Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
