UPDATE 12/30/04: Here's the latest from Lizzie's new home. "Duckie and Lizzie, and both are doing well! They share a large cage, and while they arenít the best of friends, there is no war and I think theyíre good company for each other. Duckie is the frumpy old lady of the two. She has her favorite toys ñ shredders and her mirror ñ but sheís not the most active of birds. Lizzie, on the other hand, is the young whipper-snapper who moves from toy to toy to toy and likes to yell from the top of the cage (sheís no longer the quiet bird in the house). I think that itís good for Duckie ñ it makes her more active than she used to be They both are converted to pellets (although they still love Nutrian cakes as a treat) and they both really enjoy the Just Veggies. They both get showers every day ñ Duckie likes to stick her head under the water and kind of hunch down, whereas Lizzie likes getting misted (and goes into her crazy bird routine). Lizzie loves to go up to visit my mother (who is fostering Rocky and Mrs. Potter ñ she and Rocky have a little thing going on the side). Duckie doesnít mind it ñ they both get pretty excited when Iím pulling in the driveway. They are both very sweet birds ñ my friends are always impressed that they will step up even without me there. Also, they both love getting their heads scritched (and you canít do only one!). Itís truly amazing to see how much they have changed since I got them, and they are great little companions." My name is Lizzie and I'm a pearly girlie-in other words, a pearl cockatiel. So it goes without saying that I'm beautiful, but it must be said that I'm also sweet. I don't have much experience with stepping up, but Iím learning fast. I don't need to be taught about head scritchesI know they're wonderful! I'm also a quiet girl, at least so far. I chirp a bit, but that's about all. (Once I get to know you, I just might start whistling for those head rubs, though.) I'm willing to eat some of these pellets, but I love my seeds. Fruits and greens and other veggies-well, I won't talk about them if you won't. I also won't talk about the mystery of my history. I was turned in to a shelter apparently after being found on the street. So you can make up any story about my past that tickles your fancy. All I ask is that you tickle this fancy cockatiel! Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
