UPDATE 8/2/05: Here I am, with a new home and a new name to go along with it! Since the name Francis is already being used in my new mom's family, she decided to call me Yerba Birda. She says to tell you that it has to do with Yerba Buena being the original name for San Francisco - but all I know is that I really like it when she holds me up to her face and murmurs "Yerba Yerba Birda" to me. I get all quiet and my eyes half close with pleasure when she does that. Most of the time, though, I am singing, singing and, oh yeah, singing!! I do love to sing! I especially like to sing to my mirror buddy who "lives" in the bathroom. One time when we went in, he wasn't there - mom says I had such a shocked look on my face. But then mom closed the medicine cabinet and there he was again, looking almost as handsome as me! I love my new home and my new mom, but I'm still not too sure about those silly bouncy dogs of hers!! UPDATE 3/16/05: Francis came back to Mickaboo because he his adopter didn't want to deal with a skin condition Francis developed. Here's the latest from his new foster Mom! "Francis is doing great!! I've really wondered if I want to give this sweet little guy up. I will though, and heís going to make some lucky person very happy. There have been no observable health problems. The skin irritation seems to have disappeared. Heís growing new feathers on what was once a balding little pink head. The feathering around his neck is still a little more sparse than it could be but is not noticeable unless he has his neck crooked around preening himself. He's very vocal and eats well---loves birdy bread and Beak appetite. He eats Harrisons and La Febers. He's even started to munch on the carrot stick I leave in his cage every day!" Let me introduce myself. My name is Francis, which means free man. Iím an active guy, quite full of myself actually. I have every right to be donít you think? After all Iím a young and handsome cockatiel. Iím out to conquer the world and I shall someday. I was recently rescued from the Humane Society, or some might say they were rescued from me. My new residence is this nice big cage with a view out a huge window. From here I can watch an occasional bee on some bushes right outside. When the window is open I can see and hear lots of other birds outside. Well since Iíve been in this foster home, Iíve been trying to demonstrate to my foster mom that I should be in charge. Sheís not getting it. She keeps asking me to step up and telling me when I can come out of my cage and when I have to go back in. Who does she think she is? Sheís provided some interesting and colorful things that are hanging inside my new domain. Iíve been redecorating by taking all those bead-things off and throwing them out of the cage and into my food and water bowls. One thing she does do right is provide a rain shower every day which feels so good I practically turn upside down and inside out to get that rain on every inch of me. I like most of the food she puts in here. I eat pellets, seeds, Nutrian cakes and Iím even trying some fresh fruits and veggies. I like to get out and explore things and take things apart and thatís what a free man is supposed to do, right? For some reason Iíve heard my foster mom say that Iím always getting into mischief, whatever that is! Anyway- if youíre looking for an active guy with lots of creative ideas and energy, Iím your guy! Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
