UPDATE 1/15/04: "ěNicky is the love of my life. I have bonded to him more than the rest of my flock, and they were raised from bappies. He is even-tempered, loves to hang out, and will talk up a storm if he is encouraged to. Otherwise, he can be quiet all day and you would never know I have two Amazons in the house. Nicky keeps Tucker the Mealy Amazon company. Although they don't like to share perches too often, they do tolerate each other and never make any real personal attacks. They both know the "house rules" and I think they have accepted me as the flock leader. I would like to email Nickyís former parront to send him pics of Nicky, so he knows that his baby is in a good place. The email I have for him isnít working, so if he sees this, I hope heíll contact me!î I am Nicky, a one-bird entertainment center. Actually, I am an 11-year-old amazon (a sub-species of a yellow nape). Like several of Mickaboo's birds, I am the child of a divorce. I belonged to a couple for several years, but when they divorced I bounced between the ex's for a few more years. I ended up with the man but I rarely got out of my cage once he had a new human baby. I got miffed, to put it politely, and decided to bite at him when given the chance. Why not? Amazons are not meant to be cooped up and ignored. I may not be cuddly, but I expect respect and attention. Now in my foster home, I am out of my cage for hours every day so I repay my foster mom by singing and talking, not screaming and biting. When she scritched my neck, I said "Ooh, that feels so good!" When I got a nice misting, I said, "That is a good shower!" I say lots of positive things, like "Please come here," "Are you a good boy?" and "Come closer." I love people food and I am learning about pellets. Now that I have fun toys, I am learning how to play with them. I have been picking a few feathers, but I'll be checked by a vet to make sure I don't have a serious problem. All in all, things are definitely looking up. My foster mom says I'm a mama's boy because I want to be with her a lot. Well, this mama's boy is enjoying being the entertainment center of attention!

Notice: Due to the sometimes difficult nature of amazons, Mickaboo prefers that amazons not be a households' first parrot. If you intend to house an amazon, please research the following websites:
