UPDATE 5/26/04: Here's the latest from Sorbet: "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. oops, I mean Sorbet. And nobody screams around here either! But I do make the cutest noise that makes my mom laugh! There are so many lovebirds here I can't figure it out! I'm content to play in my happy hut and swinging ropes and eat the good things provided to me by some mysterious benefactor who leaves things in my cage every morning and night...but I don't yet like to play with her. She doesn't push it; she says in time Iíll be used to her and won't be scared anymore, and then she'll hug me and kiss me like she does the other lovies here. I admit, I'm getting kind of jealous of the ones who are always riding around on her shoulder, so maybe soon....." I'm a colorful little scoop of feathers, so I've been named Sorbet. I'm a peachfaced lovebird who finally was in the right place at the right time. My story begins sadly when I was sold at a festival and given to a young girl who didn't want me. I was stuck in a cage too tiny for a finch, with a food dish I could barely get by beak into. Finch seed and potato chips were all I had to eat. Fortunately my rescuer came to my home house hunting. I don't know whether she got a house, but she saved me! My people didn't want me and were going to just turn me out into the wild. Instead, I am safe in a Mickaboo foster home, with a bigger cage, toys, good food, and my first bath in years. I was pretty skittish at first, but now I am starting to play and sing. In fact, I'm becoming quite an acrobat. So if you want a rainbow treat, please take home this Sorbet. I won't melt--I'll just melt Print this page |
