UPDATE 9/24/03: "Cali is doing great! You probably would not recognize him at this point. He stands up high and proud. His feathers are bright and well groomed. Cali also has become our #1 singer. He wakes us in the morning with his loud and complicated song. No one can compete with this guy. The foot chewing is gone for all practical purposes. Cali eats just about everything now, but he is especially fond of rice dishes, and he no longer takes time out to wipe his face. He just gorges himself. Although he samples vegetables, he is not crazy about them yet. He will clean up the corn though, and once he figured out that the corn came naturally on that cob hanging over the perch, he really got into it. I even saw him try some watermelon this weekend." Hi, I'm Calisto, a pied cockatiel looking for a pied piper to lead me to a new home. This seems to be the season for lost birds and I'm another who was rescued wandering in the big, bad world. (What do you expect of a Nymphicus hollandicus named for a nymph and descended from flocks that roamed the outback?) My markings are beautiful and my foster parents say I'm adorable. After just a couple of days, Iím trying out pellets and veggies. Who cares that I'm missing a toe? One less nail to clip, that's my view. Considering I faced who-knows-what hardships before I was found, I'm in pretty good shape. OK, there is one little thing-I pick my feet. I don't know why, but if it is a medical problem, my doc may find the solution. And if it is one of those birdy quirks, maybe a new home will help quell the quirk. Either way, I need some TLC. Please adopt me and in return you will also get TLC-that's Totally Loving Calisto. Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
