In memoriam: "Buckbeak came to live with us for the last month of his life sharing a cage/home with Oswald. From the moment we first saw him his feathers/coloring always reminded us of the sunny Caribbean ocean or the crisp ice blue of the frozen polar ice caps in winter sunshine. Buckbeak was very quiet initially preferring to sit and be left alone on his perch. Oswald began go and sit next to him and sing him little songs. Gradually Buckbeak began to chirp back in answer to Oswald and during the last 2 - 3 days of his life he began to sing. As Buckbeak got to know us, he began to step up at times, and was becoming comfortable with being out of the cage and on the play station for "out time". Buckbeak enjoyed sitting inside the hood of my sweater top or perching on my shoulder for a walk about with me in our home. He was a brave little bird binging us all much joy during the short time he lived with us. We miss him very much and know we were very lucky have him live with us even for just a little while." I've heard that English budgies have a tendency to get fat, but you couldn't prove it by me. I was so neglected that I was close to starving. I had been passed around because nobody wanted me, and the same nobodies didn't care enough to feed me properly. Finally, they were going to have me destroyed, but the vet said "No, Mickaboo's the place." Now I have a great home and with some medicine, good food, and attention, I have become a new bird. I sing all day. If you could understand budgie song, you would know I am singing the praises of Mickaboo.
