I've been happily adopted, but check below for a list of other sweet birds who need a home!

I'm Miss Leigh and I was in some kind of terrible accident -- probably a collision with a car. I was taken to a shelter and left there. Fortunately, a Mickaboo volunteer saw that I got medical care very quickly. I suffered a number of traumatic injuries and am now missing a toe and most or all of the sight in one eye. I couldn't swallow after the accident and had to be tube fed for over two weeks. My beak was bruised and I could lose part of it, though it's growing and may be just fine. I also lost some feathers on my neck from the force of the impact. Amazingly, I am nearly recovered. I eat Nutrian cakes and veggies, am gaining weight, and can groom and perch normally. I now get around quite well but can become disoriented when flying near windows, walls and other objects. I will always be safer with trimmed wings and vigilant human companions who exercise care when I'm introduced to a new situation as I cannot always see danger coming. At first, I was afraid of hands and people made me nervous, not surprising, considering what I'd been through. Still, I don't seem to bite and am learning to trust people and enjoy their company. Sometimes I allow a person to give me a head scratch and am beginning to step up. I'm even feeling safe enough to be curious about my environment. I call to other birds and respond to people who talk to me. To make my second chance at life perfect, all I need is that special person who will keep me safe while allowing me to develop my independence. Do you fit the bill?

Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted.
