Hello New Friends! I'm Tookie, a Blue & Gold macaw and I'm about 11 years old- still just a kid when you think I can live 80 years. I have to put it out there right now - I am a major junk food junkie. My regular diet has consisted of a seed mix, nuts, fruit and veggies BUT ALSO french fries, pizza, red licorice and smarties candy. My foster mom wants to focus on the healthy stuff first but I'm trying to wait her out because I am used to the carbs and calories. Where did my red whips go??? I'm lucky to be in my Mickaboo foster home because these folk know what to do with big birds. I've been seen dancing a bit and climbing around in my cage so it looks like I'm starting to relax. I've only been here two days so it is still new. How about stopping by in a week or so and I'll be able to tell you what I had for breakfast. Take care - and so will I. Update 3/25/08. Hi! Probably should have written before but I spent about a week at the vet's. Losing my family and a big move to a new home finally hit me like a ton of bricks. I lost my groove and appetite too. I'm back in my foster home again and the special foods and all the loving attention are making me feel that things are getting brighter. I hope there is someone out there who is waiting for a special macaw because I'm probably it. Give me a chance? Update 3/31/08. I seem to really prefer gentlemen over the ladies. Yesterday my foster dad came in to hang out and I surprised him because I climbed up his leg, up his arm, onto his shoulder and gave him a kiss. Later when he came to visit I offered my foot to step up. Yesterday the Mickaboo Macaw Coordinator came to meet me and she said I am really gorgeous with very healthy beautiful feathers. Meet me in person! I will knock your socks off! UPDATE: 04/01/08 My vet called and I am totally A-OK now and a BOUNCING BIG BOY (DNA sexed male). Maybe we guys can hang out sometime!
