PDATE 11/5/03: Here's the latest report from Einstein's new home! "Einstein is doing great! He and my husband have their own language and nobody can get him to talk like my husband. Itís quite entertaining. He also has his mood swings--there are times when he doesnít like white tennis shoes or socks and when heís on the floor, look out if you have on white! Itís hystericial--we have some video and are thinking of sending it to Animal Planet or Americaís Funniest Home Videos. Heís also quite the computer nerd. If Iím at the computer he has to attackÖor ,um.I mean ìhelpî yea, help J Einstein is very loved and is my baby I am so happy I found him and Mickaboo." Hello! I'm Einstein, a 17 year old, male goffin's cockatoo. I was surrendered to Mickaboo by my mom of 13 years, who is having a baby and didnít feel she could give me the attention I need. I am a very loving and affectionate bird, and I require a lot of attention from my caregiver. I have impeccable manners, I step up, step down, and I love to be scratched on the head, under the wings, and at the base of my tail. I like spending time on a "tree perch" outside of my cage, and I will perform tricks and silly antics for your entertainment. One of my foster mom's favorites is my "eagle", complete with flared tail, spread wings, raised crest, and quite realistic sound effects. If you are looking for a quiet birdie, you may be a little overwhelmed with my vocabulary. I like to vocalize (mom says that's the polite way of saying "scream"), but I also throw in lots of "hi birdie", "pretty birdie", "what are you doing", and "a-ha!" I need lots of toys to keep me entertained, preferably the kind made of softer wood that can be splintered and used for scratching my head. Yup, I am a "tool friendly" birdie, using feathers, wood, toys, and whatever to scratch my head. I am also very adept at dismantling things; so if you really want it in one piece, don't give it to me to play with! I'm very smart, and will quickly take control if you don't set limits for me. I need to be closely supervised while Iím not on my tree or in my cage. I go "on safari" as my foster mom puts it, getting into all kinds of trouble due to my adventuresome nature. I eat Harrison's adult lifetime, and fruit and veggies. My favorites are bananas, apples, peas, corn and maybe yams. I LOVE cheese, and would prefer that Harrison's started coating their pellets in it, but I haven't convinced anybody to write to the manufacturer about it. I also eat eggs, and my favorite treat (besides cheese) is peanuts in the shell. I need and like regular showers, so a shower perch is in your future if you think I am the guy for you. Want a smart and engaging friend? Give Mickaboo a call! Notice: Due to the notoriously difficult nature of cockatoos, Mickaboo prefers that cockatoos not be a households' first parrot.
