UPDATE 3/18/06: Here's the latest from Checkers' foster Dad! "Checkers has really improved her disposition. Still a little intimidated by hands in the cage, but she settles down nicely, steps up and even likes being stroked. She has increased her chirping and attempts to get our attention when we are in the room with her. All in all, there is great improvement. She really is a happy bird! It is possible I have had a checkered past. I'm Checkers, a dramatically marked blue and white budgie who came to Mickaboo via an animal shelter. Obviously I have not been handled much, or not handled well, because I tend to bite. My foster Dad is working on that. Like a lot of budgies, I'm a feisty mighty mite, but maybe "Dad" can help me learn to channel that energy into beating up on toys. If you have a bit of lion tamer in you, or if you have a budgie who needs a full-of-himself friend, I could be just the bird you have been looking for. Notice: Due to the highly social nature of parakeets, unless a household currently includes a parakeet, Mickaboo generally requires that a minimum of two parakeets be adopted. Print this page |
