My name is Emerald, the amazon formerly known as Bobo. When the Amazon coordinator and my foster mom saw me in my tiny little cage, hanging there, so depressed, they agreed I needed a new name to start my new life. No one knows for sure how old I am, but the vet thinks I'm at least 13. I had an owner who loved me a lot, but he died. So Grandma took care of me and my other bird friends for awhile. But taking care of FOUR big birds is a lot of work for a Grandma...so, the nice people at Mickaboo agreed to help us all find new homes. That tiny, dirty cage is gone. I've had lots of showers, which I LOVE. My feathers are a lovely iridescent green now, instead of the greasy brown they were when I arrived. I had a pedicure last week, and we're waiting for lab results to make sure I'm a healthy guy. Now I'm a big green scream machine in a big, clean cage, that Mommy cleans out twice a day. (I like to eat, so I keep my cleaning staff busy!) My favorite foods are Zupreem fruit flavored pellets and tangerines. I don't care much for apples. I tried some greens once, but I don't like them, much either. Green beans, on the other hand, YUM-O! I have three foster brothers. One is 8. I like to sit on his arm, and he feeds me pellets. I get heavy after awhile, so he passes me off to Mommy or his older brother, who is 11. I like to talk to him, too. He's a lot of fun. My oldest foster brother...he's 13. If he would talk to me and feed me like the others, I know we'd get along just great. I have a foster sister who says she's glad she's deaf. She can't hear my loud calls, which I make when I want attention. I like to sit on Dad's hand or arm and have long talks about everything from food to the cats. And I LOVE to yell at the cats! Those critters go running away when I yell "WAKKA WAKKA WAK!" If you're interested in a chatty, feisty, fun loving bird, I'm your guy. I'll say "Good morning" when you bring my breakfast and "Hello" when you come home from work. I shout "ai ai ai ai" when I get excited, and if I'm ready to go back to my cage, I'll say, "I don't wanna be here." If I"m really grumpy, I'll say, "Go away!" Notice: Due to the sometimes difficult nature of amazons, Mickaboo prefers that amazons not be a households' first parrot.
